Behind the Scenes at the ETI

When students are not on campus, the ETI might appear quiet, but a lot is going on! Here’s a look at how we are keeping the campus ready, safe, and up to date, so it’s even better when everyone returns.

Power Shutdown and a Full System Check

Safety is everything in our line of work, and we don’t just talk about it—we live it. Over the break, we shut down all campus power to ensure every part of our electrical system was running perfectly. Following the NFPA 70B standards (a big deal in the electrical industry), we performed checks and updates, so our campus is as safe as possible for learning.

Shining Up Our Solar Panels

ETI is all about clean energy, and our solar panels are a big part of that. During these dark weeks, we got our solar panels cleaned and polished up, so they’ll work at their best. When you see our campus powered by the sun, just know that it’s thanks to small steps like this that help us reach our energy goals.

New Tech for Teachers’ Desks

We’ve been adding some cool tech for our instructors, too! Every instructor desk is now outfitted with a new computer monitor, giving teachers better tools to bring lessons to life. And it’s not just about tech—our team is doing some good old classroom maintenance to make sure everything’s in top shape.

Instructor Training—Day and Night

Learning never stops at the ETI, and that goes for teachers as well as students. During the break, our day and night instructors took part in training sessions, sharing knowledge and new ideas so that everyone was on the same page.

CYBER and SBEMS Boards: Bringing Hands-On Learning to Life

Here’s something exciting: we’re working with UC Davis to finalize our new boards for hands-on labs! These boards will teach you about cybersecurity and smart building energy management strategies (fancy name, but it’s all about future tech!). We have started our first class and the completed boards will soon be in use, providing hands-on labs with this new equipment, getting real-world experience in cutting-edge technology. This class will soon be part of all 5th year, 2nd semester classes.

A Holiday Welcome

To make things feel warm and welcoming, we are decorating selected areas of the campus with holiday decorations! It’s our way of showing how much we appreciate our students and our way of creating a fun, festive vibe to welcome you back.
